I started out studying political science with a soft spot for the question few people ask: not what happened, but why it made sense to someone. That took me to Michigan for a local election campaign, to Edinburgh for a law degree and a research project on international peace agreements, and eventually into consulting — where I’ve spent the better part of a decade helping large organisations figure out how to talk about what they’re doing and why it matters.
Today I work at a large energy company, right in the middle of the energy transition. Which is, depending on the day, either a fascinating communications challenge or a very fast-moving target.
I started this site three years ago to make my work visible to myself as much as anyone else. That hasn’t changed. In a world where anything can be generated in seconds, I’ve become more attached to the things that take longer: the handpicked detail, the odd angle, the idea that needed to exist in a specific form and no other.
I am glad you found my little niche of the WWW; welcome.
